Ning

Communities increase membership sign up 37% with Janrain Engage Social Login

As the world’s largest community platform, Ning provides tools and services to create social community websites for brands like Linkin Park, Whole Living Magazine and the National Peace Corps Association. Ning’s initial process for community member sign-up involved registering for a unique Ning account with a traditional site-specific username and password process. Ning took advantage of Janrain's partner API to allow their network of websites to enable social login for sign-in and registration capabilities. The sites that chose to use social login saw an immediate increase in site registrations.

GO TRY IT ON

Converts 20% of mobile app downloads to registered users

GO TRY IT ON launched its website in the spring of 2010 and a free iPhone app several months later. The company had been enjoying success with Janrain Engage for social login on its site and wanted to extend that functionality to its new iPhone app. To upload a look or comment on another person’s look requires the user to be registered, so making this process easy on both the site and in a mobile environment was critical. Instead of building out a solution based on Facebook Connect, they chose Janrain Engage social login. Since implementation, they've received higher conversion rates and quality referrals from people sharing their outfits to their social network community.

Interscope Records

Leverages social networks for registration and login with Janrain Engage

Interscope Records (IGA) creates and manages individual websites for each of its recording artists. A key site objective was to make it easy for fans to sign in and interact with the content since a registered fan creates an ongoing communication channel and can post comments. IGA wanted to leverage login protocols from providers such as Facebook and MySpace to simplify the sign-in process and initially deployed a homegrown OpenID solution based on Janrain’s open source libraries. However, it quickly became apparent that staying current with provider changes was difficult and distracted the record label from its core competency. Using Janrain Engage, Interscope Geffen A&M Records was able to meet their objectives to reduce barriers to online registration and to engage their online community.

TakingITGlobal

Grows community with easy registration and social publishing

A key objective of the TakingITGlobal (TIG) website is encouraging people to take action and pledge or commit to make a change on global issues. Engagement with users and reducing barriers to entry is paramount to accomplishing this goal. TIG wanted to make the registration process as simple as possible and looked for a hosted solution to enable registration and login through a user’s existing identity provider, such as Google, Yahoo!, Facebook or Twitter. After implementing Janrain Engage, TIG met its objectives of encouraging more visitors to sign up and interact with content and extended its reach on social networks by turning members into advocates.
