Yahoo! Support of OpenID brings us to 368 million

Yes, that is right “all 248 million active registered Yahoo! users” will be OpenID enabled on January 30th, pushing the total to 368 million OpenID users worldwide. This is a major win for OpenID as it triples the current user-base and puts OpenID back on everyone’s mind.

With Microsoft, Google, and now Yahoo! on board it is safe to say OpenID is here to stay!

…except that Yahoo isn’t “OpenID” in that they do n’t authenticate against anyone else’s OpenID.

    They are only a provider.

If the rest of the community goes this way, then OpenID has really no reason to exist, because we’re back to having separate authentication required by each site.
