A Beginner’s Guide to OpenID

There are now some valuable resources available for those wishing to learn more about OpenID. How it works, where it works, why it works, etc. are all answered in the resources listed below.

The first resource is a great new screencast published by Don McAllister from ScreenCastsOnline. Don has published a free 15 minute screencast all about OpenID, using MyOpenID as an identity provider. The permalink to the page is:

You will notice he mentions a new feature of MyOpenID, the audit trail. You can now easily track where your OpenID account has been used to login.

Simon Willison has also put together an excellent SlideShare about ‘The Implications of OpenID’ which explains the technology very well:

Of course there is always OpenID.net where you can subscribe to the current OpenID mailing lists and see whats new in the OpenID community.

This is really a great service. The only thing I miss is to be able to redirect my signature on blogs comments (like this) to my own blog.
