Apologies to Pibb users, and fixes are coming!
| By mckerrj | May 14th, 2007 | Comments [0]
JanRain would like to apologize to all of our early Pibb.com users. We were attempting a nice quiet launch of Pibb with a couple of days where the application was open, but not publicized. Well, we got “outed” on Digg. Vote for us here!
Anyway, apologies to those who offended by some of Digg nations more “colorful” users. We are working now on new tools to filter offensive or abusive content, and they should be ready shortly. I will post a follow up blog post when they are ready.
Apologies and best regards from Team Pibb.

More on authoritative IDPs
| By Michael Graves | May 9th, 2007 | Comments [5]
A commenter named “Andrew” had this observation in response to my post yesterday about Sun and their plans to deploy an OpenID server that (only) issues OpenIDs to Sun employees.
But, doesn’t this run into the whole problem of multiple logins? Were this world to develop, I’d have to choose which sites I wanted to use my Sun Employee OpenID, which sites I wanted to use my college student OpenID, which I wanted to use my own personal (domain name) OpenID. Is this what we want?

Sun and the rise of the authoritative IDP
| By Michael Graves | May 8th, 2007 | Comments [7]
Tim Bray’s recent comments about OpenID and Sun’s newly announced plans for deploying OpenID there signal the development of an important step up for the OpenID ecosystem. Now, I’ll allow that there may be OpenID servers out there already that have been spun up as authoritative regarding the employment status of owners of the URLs managed by that server (if you know of any, please leave a comment here pointing to it!). But I think it’s safe to say that Sun is by far the biggest and most prominent company to make assertions like this:
Any OpenIDs authenticated by this OpenID provider are employee of this organization.
