Release Date: August 10, 2010
New cloud based offering allows National Geographic Channel and Yellowpages.ca™ to selectively share user profiles across multiple web properties and applications to increase online ROI.
Portland, OR, August 10, 2010 – Janrain, Inc., provider of the leading user management platform for the social web, today announced the release of Janrain Capture, a cloud-based user management solution. Built on top of Janrain’s User Management Platform, JUMP, which enables online businesses to manage all aspects of user engagement and measurement, Capture ensures user profile data is actionable by making it available to websites when and how they need it. Capture has already been deployed by the National Geographic Channel, Yellow Pages Group, and Eastman Kodak.
Websites provide multiple ways for users to engage with their brand through comments, ratings and reviews, online communities, feedback forums, online promotions, contests, social publishing and live chat. However, each one of these applications requires an awareness of the user’s identity and their social graph to ensure the interaction is meaningful. Janrain Capture makes previously stored user data actionable by allowing a website to selectively share relevant details about the user across multiple applications, web properties and partner sites to build personalized and engaging online experiences.
The National Geographic Channel (NGC) selected Janrain Capture to provide a single, flexible hosted user profile system. Janrain Capture stores and provisions the user’s account information and distributes user profile and authentication requirements on an as needed basis to the National Geographic’s Pluck social community platform and an email system. The National Geographic Channel is also using the Janrain Engage solution to enable its users to sign in with an existing account on Facebook, Twitter, Google or additional providers.
“Our goal was to allow users to join our community through whatever means they wanted – their own Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Google or other account log-in or a specific National Geographic Channel registration,” said Brad Dancer, Senior Vice President, Research & Digital Media, National Geographic Channel. “Janrain is fully integrated into our community tools: blogs, comments, forums and newsletters. We needed a one-stop solution for these efforts with a quick turnaround that would also be able to quickly grow with us as the social sphere expands and Janrain met all those needs.”
YellowPages.ca™ chose Janrain Capture to add user registration and a profile system in the cloud. Janrain Capture hosts the registration screens and the profile pages, as well as handles the email verification process. YellowPages.ca also uses Janrain Engage and Janrain Federate to offer 3rd party logins and federated single sign on across partner sites.
“We continue to enhance the user experience on YellowPages.ca by creating a more personal and social environment that leads to increased simplicity and relevancy,” said Nicolas Gaudreau, Vice President, Digital Media, Yellow Pages Group. “Working with Janrain we are able to provide users with a single sign-on identity across all of our properties that helps to connect the right buyer with the right merchant, ultimately driving consumer engagement and traffic for our advertisers.”
Key Features of Janrain Capture:
Janrain’s User Management Platform, JUMP, enables online businesses to manage all aspects of user engagement and measurement. In addition to Janrain Capture, the platform includes Janrain Engage, formerly known as RPX, a SaaS solution that enables third-party authentication and social publishing, and Janrain Federate, formerly known as OPX, for registered users to navigate to multiple web properties and partner sites using their existing credentials for a single sign on experience.
Janrain helps organizations succeed on the social web with its user management platform. A key component of the platform is Janrain Engage, an enterprise-class, software as a service (SaaS) solution to enable a website to expedite the registration and login processes with a user’s third party account, import user profile information and address books, and make it easy for a user to publish website activity back to multiple social networks.
