Portland, OR, March 15, 2010 — JanRain, Inc., (www.janrain.com) provider of the leading user management platform for the social Web, today announced that Gary Griffiths has joined the company's Board of Directors. A 25 year veteran of the high-tech industry, Griffiths joins JanRain during a time of strategic growth.
"Gary is a well-respected technology executive with an impressive track record," said Brian Kissel, CEO of JanRain, Inc. "His experience with companies that successfully redefined their sector -including WebEx, Everdream, and Rackable Systems – is especially compelling, as JanRain looks to do the same in the user management space."
Gary is currently co-founder and CEO of Chattertrap, a privately funded Internet information discovery service. Prior to that, Griffiths was the CEO of on-demand application company Everdream, and held senior management positions with IBM for more than 16 years. He was also the CEO and co-founder of SegaSoft Networks, one of the pioneers in interactive entertainment.
In addition to JanRain, Gary serves on the boards of directors of Silicon Graphics International (NASD: SGI), iPass Inc. (NASD: IPAS), Wildlands Inc, TimeBridge and is chairman of the board of LiteScape Technologies, Inc. Gary is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and George Washington University.
"JanRain has a unique market opportunity, and their products are already being used on thousands of websites to take advantage of the benefits of third party authentication and social publishing more quickly, easily and cost effectively," said Griffiths. "I look forward to working with JanRain to further expand their market leadership position."
JanRain helps organizations succeed on the social web with its user management platform. A key component of the platform is RPX, an enterprise-class, software as a service (SaaS) solution to enable a website to expedite the registration and login processes with a user's third party account, import user profile information and address books, and make it easy for a user to publish website activity back to multiple social networks. Companies enjoy higher registration rates, lower support costs, increased brand awareness and higher qualified referral traffic. The end-user benefits from a faster log in and a more customized online experience. RPX is the only solution to support 16 identity providers and social networks including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo!, LinkedIn, MySpace, Hotmail, and Windows LiveID. JanRain customers include industry leaders such as Universal Music Group, Kodak, Fox News, National Geographic Channel, and PayPal. Founded in 2005, JanRain is based in Portland, Oregon.
